How to be Feral: Movement Practices to Re-Wild Your Body

Online course hosted by IMT Gallery

Four sessions · Sundays 3–5pm UK time
4 October · 18 October · 1 November · 15 November 2026

How can we be feral in the age of modernity? Is that even possible?

The body says yes. It never forgot. Underneath the habits, the performance, the learned ways of holding and moving and presenting yourself — the feral is already there. Not waiting to be discovered. Waiting to be allowed.

This four-session online course explores the feral intelligence of the body: how it listens, questions, adapts, resists habit, and remembers what modern life teaches us to forget. Drawing on practices from How to be Feral, we practise trusting instinct before understanding — and learn from the more-than-human world, even from within the spaces we already inhabit.

Because this course takes place online, we work with what’s immediately available: rooms, floors, walls, furniture, objects, screens, sounds, gravity, light. The wild is closer than it sounds.

The four sessions

Being a Biped Differently — bringing fresh attention to standing, walking, uprightness. What does this everyday perspective make possible, and what does it limit?

Moving Without Standing Upright — crawling, folding, rolling, crouching. Not regression but rediscovery. What becomes available when the body moves from somewhere less habitual?

Shaping / No Shaping — the dialogue between form and formlessness. How to stay open to the unknown without collapsing into vagueness.

Co-composing with Objects — moving with objects not as tools but as presences. What can we learn when we receive first and act second?

Between sessions, small self-directed practices continue in everyday life — in familiar rooms, daily tasks, small gestures, and the body’s quiet rebellions against automatic habit.

No prior movement experience needed. Only curiosity and a willingness to be unsettled by your own body.
